I've been taking lots of pictures these days, but haven't been to post any. Last week we met a very special four year old girl who will be with us for the next few months. This is our first assignment as a Safe Family and one week in, I'd say it's been going as well as we could hope. Safe Families is a ministry where families invite children into their homes and care for them during a "family crisis." A family crisis could be due to homelessness, substance abuse, medical needs, or a variety of other reasons. We are not paid to be a Safe Family, but know we are called to care for people like Jesus does. He cares for the orphans and widows and we pray that our involvement in Safe Families will show the love of Jesus to others who just need support while they're going through challenging times. Our little friend is a huge blessing to our family. Of course there are rough patches and tears for missing her mommy, overall we've had a great first week. Yesterday we went to the zoo together. Here are a few photos from our adventure.
This weekend I got to travel to my cousin's wedding in Watkins Glen, NY. I decided to take the train. It turns out you can NEVER plan for it to be on time. And though I missed the wedding ceremony due to the 5 hour train delay, I did make it to the reception where I dance the night away. This is the only photo I took this weekend. I enjoyed every minute of my quiet ride despite the delay.
Yesterday I found out the birth announcement photo I did for a friend won FIRST PLACE in a competition for the theme "SOOC" (straight out of camera). It won me $200 and puts me that much closer to my Canon 5D mark iii. And because my hubby is so awesome, he came home with these as a "Congratulations" gift.
He's the real hero though. He's my biggest cheerleader and always reminds me of how proud he is of me pursuing my passion. He supports me 110% in this crazy journey of mine. I'm thankful for him today. |
